I've just uploaded my talk on parents here. The first time I used this talk I used the Kevin and Perry clip, but this time I used Big Daddy.

The Last Kiss

I watched this film on my recent trip to Canada - not a great film, and it is a little predictable. The film is about a guy who messes up his relationship with his long term girlfriend - he gets a little too close to another woman. It all blows up in his face and only then does he realise what he has done. The part that would be worthy of a video clip is near the end of the film. He has a conversation with Jenn's father, Stephen, and he tells him that if he wants to get her back it's quite simple...you do whatever it takes. This then results in him sleeping outside the front door for days and days until she lets him back in to the house. You could use this to ask the question - what are you willing to do for those things that are important in your life?

Teen Pregnancy

I've just noticed that www.independence.co.uk have just published Teen Pregnancy and Lone Parents.
If it's like their other publications it will be full of useful facts / statistics etc.

York & North Yorkshire Voluntary Sector learning & Skills network

This web site tries to list course available to those of us doing "Voluntary" work. It looks like a good idea, but as ever, highlights the fact that "Voluntary" seems to mean that you volunteer between the hours of 9 - 5 Monday to Friday. What about the rest of us volunteer in our spare time?

Talk response 24: the news in pictures

As an alternative way of praying about the issues going on in the world, try using the news in pictures from the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/. See the link on the left hand side. For greater effect, collect the pictures for a week or two.

Video camera's

We're starting to think about buying a digital video camera - see the replies to my post on the youthwork website...very interesting. Video school looks good - I'll think I'll check it out.
