To take an honest look at the positive and negative issues the night
clubbing raises, such as: having fun, dancing, drinking, risks such as drugs,
date rape, fights, sexual advances, alcohol poisoning, hangovers, getting home
etc.
In a separate session we aim to do a self-defence workshop...just in case
etc.
How would you react if someone offered you some pills?
What if someone in your group took some stuff?
Scenario 5
What would you do if you friend passed out?
Bible bit
Sometimes nights turn bad...when people have been drinking...people get
into fights, men get the wrong idea...etc..
This happens in pub too...
With that in mind we're arranging for a man to come show you how defend
yourselves...
So what do you think the Bible has to say about these issues?
Ecclesiastes 11:9 (CEV) "Be cheerful and enjoy life while you are young! Do what you want and find
pleasure in what you see. But don't forget that God will judge you for
everything you do"
Go and have fun, but there are limits...
Ephesians 5:18 (CEV) "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let
the Holy Spirit fill and control you"
Isaiah 5:11-12 (The Message) "Doom to those who get up early and start drinking booze before breakfast,
Who stay up all hours of the night drinking themselves into a stupor. They
make sure their banquets are well-furnished with harps and flutes and plenty
of wine, But they'll have nothing to do with the work of GOD, pay no mind to
what he is doing."
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (The Message) "... didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the
Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering
what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some
piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole
works. So let people see God in and through your body"
When you are out and about, what kind of behaviour do you think would
be appropriate?
