To start our discussion tonight we're going to watch five minutes from the
film Cast Away
In this clip Chuck (Played by Tom Hanks) is flying home for Christmas...
I'd like you to watch and think what would I do if I were in his
situation...
[Cast Away]
26 mins (Chuck gets on the plane) - 31 mins (the passenger
compartment fills with water)
Middle bit
So what would you be thinking if you were Chuck?
I'd be a little bit worried...thinking I'd going to die...
What do you think happens when this life is over?
Some people thing we go to "heaven", some people think that's it there
is nothing else, others believe that we come back as something else
The Bible talks about heaven and hell...
What do you think those places are?
So what do you think heaven would be like?
The Bible says in Revelation 21:3-4 that in heaven there will be no tears,
pain, suffering, crying...
How do you think you get to heaven?
John 3:16 (CEV) "God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so
that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really
die"
What do you think hell would be like?
Matthew 8:12 "But the ones who should have been in the kingdom will be thrown out into
the dark. They will cry and grit their teeth in pain."
End bit
So to finish I though we could spend a moment and pray about those we know
who are ill or no longer with us
[Pray]
Other bits
Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 (CEV) "Like animals we breathe and die, and we are no better off than they are.
It just doesn't make sense. All living creatures go to the same place. We are
made from earth, and we return to the earth."
